About CutMatch Hair
Most search tools answer the question “which salon is near me?” CutMatch Hair answers a different one: who is genuinely good at the haircut I want?
Why it exists
A salon rated 4.8 stars tells you the front desk is pleasant and the colour work is good. It tells you almost nothing about whether anyone there cuts a sharp French bob, a real curly cut done dry, or a shag that grows out well. Those are different skills, held by individual stylists — not by buildings.
CutMatch Hair is built around the stylist and the cut. You choose the haircut you want, tell us where you are starting from, and we rank individual stylists by how strongly that specific cut appears in their own professional profile.
How matching works
Best Match weighs four things, in this order of importance:
- An exact haircut-category match — does this stylist list the cut you asked for?
- The strength of that specialty — is it a named strength, or just mentioned in passing?
- Distance from the town or ZIP code you typed.
- A rating, where one exists. A stylist without a rating is not penalised for it.
Your location is a starting point, not a boundary. Searching from Abington, PA will surface qualified stylists in Jenkintown, Glenside and Willow Grove too, because a good stylist eight miles away beats a mediocre one on your block. When a tight radius does not hold enough qualified stylists, the search widens on its own and tells you that it did.
Where the information comes from
Stylist information is researched from public professional sources — salon team pages, published portfolios, professional directories and public social profiles. Each profile shows the evidence behind it so you can judge the fit yourself.
Stylists can also claim their own profile and correct it. Anyone can recommend a stylist we have missed, or suggest an edit from any profile page. Nothing submitted through those forms is published automatically — every submission is reviewed by a person first.
What CutMatch Hair does not do
- It does not invent ratings, prices, review counts or distances. Where a detail is not on file, the site says so.
- It does not blend CutMatch member reviews with Google, Yelp or Vagaro ratings. External ratings are always labelled with their source.
- It does not sell placement in search results. Being listed is not a paid endorsement, and any future featured placement will be clearly labelled.
Where it covers
CutMatch Hair currently focuses on Southeastern Pennsylvania — Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware and Chester counties — with location matching built so additional regions can be added without rebuilding the search.
